AAS FTP Semester - Log 1

Ah, the beauty of spring...longer days, warmer rays, and an exceptional increase in training intensity.  That's right, it is the start of another Field Training Prep semester and Arnold Air Society candidacy program.

The AAS candidacy program promises to be one of the most exciting—and intense—semesters of your ROTC career.  It prepares candidates for membership in the Arnold Air Society, Field Training, and their future as United States Air Force officers through drill and ceremonies, candidacy projects, and psychological and physical training.

The candidacy for the AAS class of 2014 began on Friday, Jan. 24th. “Avenger Flight" (the name the candidates chose for their class) currently has 4 members: C/4C Martinez, C/4C Keo, C/4C Mesfun, and C/4C Doheny. So far, they have gone through four candidacy sessions, including ORI’s, FDE’s, Road Guard Procedures, Reporting In Procedures, and their first Arnold Air Society manual (AASMAN-1) quiz.

Candidates meet every Friday afternoon with their fellow candidate class for a four hour training session led by various Active members of the Society.  At the end of the semester, with determination and a little hard work, candidates will be an Active member of the AAS and an integral part of the Lt. Paul O’Hare Squadron at USC. The 2014 candidate class is on their way to becoming the most outstanding cadets in the detachment and are increasing their chances of being nominated for field training.
